QUANSHU SYLLABUS
All CQS schools operate independently and follow their own specific syllabus, however, the thing that binds all the different schools together is the core syllabus. This is the part of the syllabus that is consistant throughout all the schools.
Although the Quanshu syllabus is divided into five student levels, for seniors there are two parts to each level, and for juniors there are three parts per level.
Some schools follow the modern structured approach to training, i.e. working step by step through the core syllabus. In these schools coloured sashes are used to denote the level.
Other schools follow the more traditional approach of working through the core syllabus in a more 'organic' way, that is, if a student shows a talent in one area of Quanshu then it is possible for that student to progress through all the levels of that area before completing any particular level.
Irrespective of traditional or modern approaches, there are three categories of skill for each routine, sequence or technique.
- Competent
- Proficient
- Accomplished
Obviously the aim is to become accomplished in as many things as possible.
The syllabus presented here, as an example, is from the main school in Inverness.
